Class Outline
Getting Started With The Digital Detox
Meet Dr. Leslie Carr, licensed clinical psychologist, as she shares a bit more about her background, what this class is all about, and who she designed this class for.
How Technology Stresses You Out & Makes You Anxious & What To Do About It
Some amount of stress and anxiety is necessary to get up and do things, but at what point does it get to be too much? Dr. Carr outlines how the anxiety spectrum works, how you can determine where you currently sit on it, and also explains why our brains are not wired to spend so much time peering into screens.
Measuring The Impact Of Technology On Your Health, Happiness & Relationships
Technology can be fun, and even gives us a little endorphin rush when we see those Facebook and Instagram notifications pop up. But at what cost is this to us, really? Dr. Carr discusses why these momentary feelings of happiness may not be good for us in the long run.
The Most Common Tech-Related Problems & How To Overcome Them
Technology allows us to be connected at all times, whether that’s to friends, family, work, or world news. While this may seem beneficial, all this connectedness can result in overstimulation, and overstimulation often leads to burnout. Dr. Carr explains how you can navigate technology, while still keeping your sanity.
Taking Action: A Mindfulness & Self-Care Regiment To Reduce Anxiety & Feel Your Best
Living in a constantly connected digital world keeps our mind and bodies in a frenetic, stressed-out state. Fortunately, there are techniques you can practice to calm your body, mind, and spirit.
How To Move Past Your Digital Detox & Use Technology More Mindfully In Your Everyday Life
In your (almost!) last module, Leslie shares some parting words and helps you set yourself up for success beyond this class.
Quick Tips From Leslie
Congratulations on completing this class! Before you go, Leslie leaves you with a few more tips to help ensure that you don’t let technology get the best of you, now and into the future.

Meet the Instructors
Leslie Carr, PsyD
Leslie Carr, PsyD, is a licensed clinical psychologist who works as both a psychotherapist and a coach, in San Francisco and online via Skype. Leslie’s varied and eclectic background makes her a bonafide expert in human behavior. A graduate of Connecticut College and the California School of Professional Psychology, Leslie also spent a year in Paris, studying at the Sorbonne and working for Le Centre International des Sciences Criminelles et Penales—a French government agency which educated international law enforcement officials about the psychology of serial killers. Today, Leslie’s more concerned with what helps people to thrive. As a blogger and a public speaker, her mission is to help people to see that their emotions contain meaning, and that our social, cultural, and interpersonal experiences impact us just as much as our genes and biology.
