As a wellness expert and best-selling author, I sometimes (OK, most of the time) am busier than I know how to handle, which is why it's incredibly important to make sure that I am keeping my body as healthy as possible—and for me, this starts in the gut.

Probiotics are typically considered the "good" bacteria that supplements your body's natural gut flora, or microbiome. Probiotics boost your body's natural microbiome and may aid in the breakdown of nondigestible components of your diet to produce beneficial compounds that can be converted into energy, outcompete the "bad" bacteria, and interact with the cells in your intestine.

Here's exactly what I do throughout the day to keep my gut as healthy and happy as possible.

Morning: Lemon Water and Probiotics

When I wake in the morning, the first thing I do is chug a large glass of water that is next to my bed. This helps to wake me up and start my metabolism. Next, I make a cup of warm water with freshly squeezed lemon, which helps stimulate the production of hydrochloric acid and kick-starts my digestion for the day.

My breakfast will consist of either oatmeal with fresh banana, with cinnamon and coconut flakes, a veggie scramble with eggs, or avocado toast. I'll also have a glass of Tropicana Probiotics in Strawberry Banana, which has 1 billion live and active cultures along with a day's worth of vitamin C. Probiotics are incredibly vital to your gut health, and I love being able to have something that tastes great (plus, I love that it's 100 percent juice and has no added sugar or artificial flavors!).

Afternoon: A Mega Salad

I pretty much have the same thing for lunch every day—a big delicious salad. It's loaded with amazing ingredients that elevate it to the next level—spinach, chopped cucumber, sugar snap peas, sautéed mushrooms and broccoli, carrots, sweet potato, black beans, and kimchee. Oh, and avocado! Can't forget avo! I make sure to add apple cider vinegar to whatever dressing I use, which, like the kimchee, is great for the gut.

I don't have a set routine when it comes to working out, but I do try to fit something in five days a week, either in the morning or early evening. This can include HIIT, a run on the beach, going to a hot yoga class, or a simple walk. For me, it's less about the grueling workouts and instead making sure to move my body and enjoy what I'm doing. Today, I'm doing yoga at Tantris, my new favorite studio in LA. They have infrared heaters, to turn up the heat and get the sweat going.

Post yoga, I drink a glass of the Tropicana Probiotics Peach Passion Fruit, which is made with 100 percent fruit juice, to replenish and help my tired (but happy!) body.

Evening: A Quick and Easy Veggie Stir-Fry

Lately, I've been so busy that I've had an event every evening, and when I don't have one I am catching up on work, so I've been up a bit later than normal getting everything done. Tonight was all about working and doing emails, then making a quick vegetable stir-fry and going to bed early. While food and exercise are incredibly important for your health, slowing down and making sure you're relaxed is equally important. The gut is thought of as the second brain and controls a lot of how our body functions.

When it comes to a healthy gut microbiome, make sure you're having good pre- and probiotics and lots of vegetables. There are so many ways to get probiotics into your diet, so you may as well pick something that tastes delicious like Tropicana Probiotics. And get lots of sleep! Even though we all get really busy, it can make a huge difference to just slow down and let taking care of your health become a priority.
