What It’s Like To Finish 60+ Triathlons On Plant-Based Fuel
As a triathlon competitor, long-distance runner, and coach, I spend two to three hours training, every single day. And as a mom to two under two, that means it all has to happen before everyone wakes up.
So before sunrise, as early as 5 a.m., I’m out there pushing myself physically and mentally. I’ll run along the coast near my home in San Diego, California, swim laps in the ocean, strength train on the beach, and ride my bike for cardio. Nothing about it is easy, but that challenge alone is what gets me out of bed.
I’m just the kind of person who needs to do something very physical once a day. But to keep this up, it’s so important for me to consider what I’m putting in my body, especially being a plant-based athlete.
When it comes to my performance, I need to seek out alternatives to animal proteins that can help me power through the toughest workouts. The 10 grams of protein in Bolthouse Farms Plant Protein Milk helps keep me moving.
On the flip side, I’ve learned over the years to be immensely conscious of what I’m eating and using as fuel. There have been plenty of times that I’ve made not-so-great choices in terms of food, and the effects are immediately obvious the next time I train. Bolthouse Farms Plant Protein Milk helps make these choices easier, especially now with two kids who can benefit from it, too. Because as much as it’s great to get out there in the morning, coming home to my kids feeling strong and energized is the best part.
