Back in the day, Lululemon was known for the basics: high-quality black yoga pants, supportive sports bras, and warm running jackets.
A lot has changed since then. This fall, the design team worked closely with its new creative director, Lee Holman, to produce stylish, top-notch designs and fabrics.
The main thing you should look out for? Hand-dyed leggings—no two pairs are exactly the same.
"Our fall collection really hones in on craftsmanship and features a modern design approach through new colors and prints," Anoosha Foroughi, Lululemon's design concept director, tells mbg. "We've invested a lot of time in developing individual fabric dyeing techniques, shown in ombré and shibori items. We have also expanded our assortment of digitally engineered prints that are mapped to perfectly fit the silhouette of the body in motion as seen in our marble and florence pants.”
Here are five Lululemon trends to watch out for this fall:
1. New high-tech fabrics
This fall, Lululemon introduced Nulux, a quick-drying, sweat-wicking fabric with lightweight coverage—which is great news for those of us who want to show up at brunch looking semi-decent.
2. A "reflective splatter" designed for safety
Look out for a reflective splatter pattern in four different silhouettes to make you as visible as possible when you're running—even late at night and early in the morning.
3. Unique dye patterns
4. Jewel tones and military green
Look out for brand-new colors including jewel tones (blue/navy, fuchsia, deep green), military green, deep purples, electric blue, and a special multicolored pattern called "Boom Boom."
5. A "Black Friday" capsule
This year, Lululemon has teamed up with Brazilian textile artist Janaina Milheiro to create a collection featuring silk and feathers. This collection will be available in stores and online on Friday, November 25.
